I opened my system up to replace a fan and noticed a slight knocking sound coming from the PSU fan you cant hear it if the case is closed if I didn't listen closely I wouldn't even know it's there. Only seems to happen when I turn the system off and last for a minute or so.

Can't remember if it always did this, is it normal?

The fan might be starting to go, i had to replace mine on my last PSU. It normally only happens when the fan is running at very low speeds, which is probably why the noise goes away after a while as the PSU heats up the fan will speed up.

Ive had a few fans develop that ticking noise, no idea what causes it though.

If you do then you will invalidate the 10 year warranty. With a UK rma centre now it's just not worth it. If it's bad enough then rma it. If you can't hear it with the panel on then I would wait and see if it gets worse.

I was thinking the same, I'll wait and see how it goes it's not a major problem anyway I can live with it.
