Hey,

I've bought myself a Coolermaster 500 Watts PSU (RP-500-PCAP), but the fan is a little too noisey for my liking. Would it be possible to replace the fan with another 120mm silent fan like:Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000.

Only problem is the fan inside the psu is a 2 pin fan plug, but the normal fans are a 3 pin plug and I dont know what I would need to do with the wires.

Cheers for any advice.

if you are able to unplug the fan in the psu without any problems then changing the fan
should be straight forward. when using one that has the three pin plug just remember you only need to connect the red and black cables just note which way round they are
when you remove the old fan.

Cheers, I've noted which way the black and red wires are, just I've got a white wire too on the replacement fan but I dont want it touching anything else.

Hi,

Before I start messing with this PSU has any got any advice on what I need to do with the white wire that is coming from *** replacement fan ??

Cheers

The white wire is for RPM monitoring I would guess. Why not wind it around the red and black wires and then put some tape around it so it doesn't touch anything? I would say your putting your life at risk, tampering with the PSU.
