PSU fan speed

Hi,

Having a bit of a strange problem with my computer…

I bought an Alpine Arctic 64 cooler for my AM D 3000+, which installed perfectly. It’s running slower than the old stock fan and quieter too.

The problem comes from my PSU fan, which has decided to run faster than before. Before the Alpine was installed, it was at a constant 4600 rpm and afterwards, 5200 rpm, so now my system isn’t any quieter than it was before. I’ve been told that maybe the PSU is compensating for the lower fan speed of the CPU (around 2100, compared to 3200 before), but the problem is that the temperature is exactly the same as before! It’s running at around 25C.

Any thoughts? I’ve tried Speedfan to see if I can slow down the PSU fan but the mobo doesn’t support it.

Do I need to replace the PSU? (it wasn’t the most expensive one, but I’ve not had a problem with it til now).
