PSU FAULT?

I am using and old dual opteron as a file/media server(bit overkill but it's my old rig) that I started to experience the system hanging. This stated to happen more often in the last week and then last night virtually within 5 minutes of rebooting the machine. The thing will not even post now and I can't get into the bios.

I'm looking at replacing the board etc to a more power friendly variant as its in 24/7. But before I fork out for a new board/ram/cpu I'm just concerned that the pus could be causing the issue.

The psi powers up with the fan working but hangs on the cpu memory information.

I've disconnected everything but the bare minimum to allow it to post, tried different sticks of memory in different slots. Removed the cmos battery and reset the bios but still no joy.

The spec is:
Msi k8n master 2 far
Opteron 285's
Corsair hx850
6gb pc3200 ecc ram

Any help would be appreciated

Hm, doesn't sound massively like a PSU problem to me, more like motherboard.

Do you have another system you can test the PSU in? The HX850 is a good PSU.
