psu for 1900xt

I'd say a decent 400watt psu should be ok. Not sure of your budget but you definately shouldn't scrimp on the PSU.

It powered an overclocked e6600, 4gb of ram, 3 HDD's and an overclocked 7950GX2 happily.

I see no reason why not!
The 580 that i mentioned also ran a dual core Opteron 165 @ 2.88ghz and the same GX2 with no trouble.
i also just remembered that a friend of mine also had a tagan 430 which happily ran a 4400+ X2, 2gb of ram, 2x 74gb raptors and an x1900xt @ xtx speeds.

if hes really a mate, make sure its a decent quality psu.
Should be ok - i'd probably go for the tagan since i've always been impressed with them. 3 year warranty too!
