Hello folks,

I just want to say thanks to all (especially Doomedspeed) concerning helping me spec my new rig.

I may change the PSU and was wondering what your recommendations were for PSUs bearing in mind I currently have 2 X R280s and will be adding a third to the mix.

Many thanks.

The rating..gold vs bronze and built with higher quality components. I've heard it's also quieter, although this is anecdotal.

There are more differences

The Pro is made by Delta
The Gamer is made by Seasonic

Both are great, but Delta have the upper hand slightly in my opinion. Both are great units.

Also the Pro have been efficency.

So if your components needs 600w at that given time for example, the Pro unit may only been pulling 610w from the socket, but the Gamer may need 620w to produce the same output. (these numbers are just an example)

Thanks Ace Modder.

To be honest, I am going to RMA the 850W that I have but buy another one at the same time.

The main point for me is the noise. So should I take a chance on another 850W from Antec, or look at some other brand?

(question open to all please!)

You see that PSU in post#2? that's what I use with a pair of R9 280X's on a socket2011 [email protected], I've seen 710watts being sucked from the wall (so that's the whole setup) during Crysis3.

Well its what I've seen and Crysis3 draws more than Firestrike does as a whole.
I see they use 3Dmark06 which maybe not stressing as much as a more modern game does?

There are a few important notes to remember though; while our maximum power is taken in 3DMark06 at the same exact point, we have seen in particular tests the power being drawn as much as 10% more.

10% more will take you up to 618watts.
