Psu for 3080

Buy a 750w at a min or ideally a 850w from the list (search Google) that are know to be able to handle these spikes and do not listen to poor advise from n00bs saying "I run a 3090 on a 700-750w without issues" (hope for them it continues).

The 3080 is a high end GPU, buy a higher end PSU it is more important that the GPU or any part and will take you to the next build.

I did not type that for the fun of it, someone here is running a 3090 on one, I typed the 700-750w range as I cannot remember which it was but lets give them the benefit and say a 750w.

The OP has 2 threads : 3080 power supply | Overclockers UK Forums

Someone in that thread is boasting he ran a 3090 on a 750w but he is not then one I seen in previous threads so to be fair you did not looks very hard. :p

There’s a big increase in power draw from 3070 to 3080 but I’m not sure there’s much difference between a 3080 and 3090. Certainly the EVGA power meter reckons my system with a 3090 would run on an EVGA 750W PSU even my bronze one.

Why you keep moving the goalposts, I said someone (seems there is more than one) is running a 3090 on a 700-750w and there is a difference of about 30-40w (stock) as I have a 3090FE and again those tools are not accurate it offered me something crazy (would need enter it all again as I forget).

The list online will advise models that can handle the spikes and most will recommend an 850w for the 3090, remember a lot of GPU/CPUs are not running stock.

I will say what I say in every other thread on this same old topic.

Someone here ran 2x 1080Ti for years on a good branded 850w, he then swapped to a 3090 and got reboots due to the fact it could not handle the Transient Spikes, he fixed it buy buying a 1000w.

I run a 3090 on a AX1600i so why should I even bother TBH (rhetorical).

I'm running a 3080 FE and 5800X with a Corsair SF600 Platinum without issue, I was a bit worried but I haven't had any crashes, is it likely to limit performance without enough power?

I currently have 2 3080s in my machine mining or 1 mining while gaming on the other with power draw at 550w while gaming from just the Gpus and it seems perfectly fine on an evga 750w.

The EVGA power meter suggests a 1000W PSU for my machine in sig with two 3080s.
