what dose it mean 38amp on 12v
what would I need to run this card msi N470GTX Twin frozr I have a 580watt but only 28amp and everytime i get in to a game of MW2 my pc shuts off anf the to of the 470 is very hot.
 
The 470s run hot, don't worry about that too much, though to rule it out download and run gpu-z and click log to file, once restarted open the file and check the temps, so long as they're not going too much above a ton then yeah it's power issue and you'll have to buy a better quality psu which has the required ampage, corsair 550w n above I'd imagine
If the temps are going above this then it's possibly heat thing, either heat or power I'd imagine, could try improving cooling in your case maybe
 
I run my GTX470 on a OCZ ModXstream 700W fine, I even spoke to OcUK on the phone and they said I could run two off 700W.

In regards to the heat, I got myself GPUZ today and whilst writing this, with 3-4 more things going on its sitting at 47'c. I tested today with STALKER and the modded graphics package and at full graphics and 1080p resolution it was around 80'c the whole time. It seems to run hot but I am not concerned. The fan has it under control. :D
