Currently got Corsair 650w

will that be enough

i also have : - (if that changes anything)

2 x samsung f3
2.66ghz i7 @ 4.2ghz watercooled

want a new gfx card for wow patch 4.0.1 and cataclysm aswell as the likes of crysis 2

Normally yes, I think the total draw for the 5970 is about 294w but with all the other bits it could be borderline in your case.
However, the 5970 requires 50 Amps available on the +12 volts rails. Check this too.

im currently using 5870 but im at my wits end with the drivers.

i may even consider going to gtx 480 as its been years since i used Nvidia.

I was running a 4.1ghz i7, 2 HDDs, 1 SSD, 18w pump, 4 120mm fans and a pair of 5850s from a Corsiar 620w with no issues.

Yours would be a very similar spec and a slightly better PSU so I'd imagine that it would be fine.

it seems to really hate my 32" each screen, even the latest has the odd scaling problem.

temps seem to get worse with each release (although that may be card related)

im am major ati fanboy, but the mother in law has got sli 480s and has never had a single problem with them.
