Hi,

I'm having a nightmare with my new 7900GS i bought from OcUK. The whole order process was faultless, as was installation. However, whenever i run any intensive 3d games, i get random freezes reboots etc.

I did all the usual stuff with drivers and cleaning fans etc to no avail, so i resigned myself to being stuck with it and as i've had the card since Oct 06, i assume its out of RMA range.

That being said, i discovered quite by chance the other day that the card needs to have a minimum of 22 Amps on the 12V Rail. As it happens my existing PSU can only provide 20 Amps Max. Which will apparently account for my rebooting issues.

Now to my actual question: Can anyone recommend a relatively low cost (£30-£50) PSU that has enough Amps to power a 7900GS?

I'm wondering if this is good enough as i cant find info on its DC Output anywhere...

For added info i have 2x IDE Drives installed so dont need Sata connectors.

Also, if anyone who knows these things can confirm the above as reality i would very much appreciate it as i can't afford to keep trying different things to get this fixed.

Lastly, My PC has no fans other than on the CPU, GPU and PSU. Would you recommend i purchase an additional fan, maybe on the Chassis? or as an additional riser? As i have noticed when playing things like Titan Quest, my GPU easily reaches 80Deg...

Maybe my rebooting is caused by a combination of both the above issues, which is what i've been thinking.

Welcome to the forums. When looking for the DC output did you take a look at the manufacturers website? It has 2x12V rails of 14A and 15A so overall if combined you probably get 22-23A at a rough guess. It ought to be fine for a 7900GS although I don't think I'd trust an 88 series card to it. :)
