I'm looking to build a 4090 7800X3D system. I'm not interested in overclocking etc. I just want a functional system with a bit of leeway for a future graphics card.

But I'm confused about the PSU. I think it will need 1000W to be a bit future proof?

The PSU's I've identified are:
  • Corsair RMx Series RM1000x 80 PLUS Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (CP-9020201-UK) - £179.99
  • Be quiet! Straight Power 12 1000W 80 Plus Platinum ATX 3.0 Power Supply - £215.99
Any comments on either of those?

They're both fine, but I think the RMx PSU is the old pre-ATX 3.0/PCIE5 version, the new version is the SHIFT. The SHIFT does need a compatible case though, because of the unusual (side) placement of the modular board.

If you want platinum, I'd consider this one too:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £197.99 (includes delivery: £7.99)
I don't know which PSUs (if any) have better/revised PCIE 12/16 pin connectors.

Gold is plenty, Platinum is just upselling.
