I will keep this simple, i tried posting this already but i made the mistake of mentioning a well known website for measuring power usage for a given system build and i think it has been blocked.

I currently have a system including a 9950x3d & 4090 and the various other bits and the total power usage on my current system is 837w but if i were to include a 5090 instead of the 4090 it brings the suggest total power to 962w.

The questions is will 962w on a 1000w PSU be ok, or should i be looking to upgrade the PSU as well?

These psu calculators are not particularly accurate and many on here are running 5090's on 1000w psu's. Assuming your psu is the one in your siggy it's a very high quality unit so as you already have it see how you get on with it. The times you hit maximum power draw on both the cpu and gpu at the same time will be very few and most of us end up undervolting our cpu's and gpu's anyway. Undervolting is well worth doing as it cuts power draw quite significantly enabling the cpu or gpu to run cooler which makes it boost higher (gpu) and for longer.

Thank you, Yes it the same PSU in my sig and i haven't got to the stage of buying a 5090 because i am really unsure i need it just yet and am in two minds about waiting for the next gen potentially.
