My mate has an Antec Truepower 480W PSU, with 2x 12v rails, which combine to make 36A (18A each), and is considering getting the OcUK 8800GTS 640MB card. The site recommends a 500/600W, but as my mate has a semi-decent PSU not some unbranded generic one, I was hoping it'd be ok.

It'd be going with this new rig:

Core 2 Duo E6400 (hoping to overclock this to about 2.8Ghz, 1.5V max vcore)
Geil 2GB DDR2 PC6400
Gigabyte DS3
HD/DVD drives etc.

Reckon he'd be ok, considering the strong combined rails?

I'm currently running that PSU and don't think it will be able to cope with the load successfully. The problem will be stuttering while working I have been informed but,may be worth a try !
I am ordering the Corsair 620w as insurance :) as I hate it when you get a PSU failure with no spare :(

Yeah it will be fine, its more the 12v rails, not wether its over 500w or not, 480w will be fine as he has about 36a on the 12v rails, so thats easily enough. :)
