PSU for Dell Optiplex

Dear all

Does anyone know if any of the decent 400W supplies fit into an Optiplex 280 ?

I can almost hear everyone thinking why would anyone want to do that but it's quite an important PC to my company and I've added a second hard drive and there are a number of USB devices driven off it. I don't think the stock PSU is up to it and so I'm thinking Akasa 400W (the socket appears to be in the correct location). I know the Akasa's are quiet too.

The machine is no more than 3 years old so I don't think there's the old swapped mobo connections of previous Dells.

Any comments appreciated.

Hi, as far as I know the Dell Optiplex series only accept a specialised Dell PSU (in keeping with the Dell 'non-standard' way of doing things!) - I know that I've tried once before to get a PSU for an Optiplex and I had to resort to an auction site; even then I couldn't find one with a matching wattage rating.

The Akasa PSU you refer to is a standard ATX design and will not fit an Optiplex, nor will any other PSU on OcUK. You may well be better off going direct to Dell and seeing if they can help you.
