PSU for dual 3090s?

My new rig will have a single RTX 3090, Ryzen 5900X, a couple NVME drives & a large custom water loop.

However its possible I could add a second 3090 at some point so I used 2 cards with the online PSU calculator. It showed a load wattage of 968W so recommended a 1,200W PSU. Is this enough for dual 3090s i.e. does it take into account the power spikes I've heard about these cards?

Will you be overclocking? Because I'm not sure how much headroom you'll have. It might be more prudent to plan for having two PSUs.

No overclocking. Case will be the Fractal Meshify 2 XL, don't think it can take 2 PSUs.

I'd go for 1600w, considering the amount of money you're spending the extra for 1600w is well worth it over 1200w which may give you hassles and not allow for any overclocks

I'm using be quiet! Dark Power Pro 12 1500W. specs of pc in my signiture below, the 3090s are both running with the oc bios that uses 420w each. No issues at all with this PSU and 2 x3090s with really high wattage use BIOS and a 5950x CPU.

Wow.

Treat your PC to some 180 degree power adapters to tuck those GPU power cables out of the way.

And a 90 degree adapter for the 24 pin ATX connector.
