650w good enough to run 2x gtx 970? Or maybe r9 380x in xfire

A quality 650w would do it as reviews show total system power draw of sli 970's to be around the 450w mark. I would rather see 750w though for the extra headroom plus the psu won't be working so hard so should run cooler and quieter.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £105.49
(includes shipping: £10.50)

I'm in a similar situation and each time I've entered the system details into a PSU calculator and the power draw always seems to come out < 600W.

Would the Corsair RM650i be sufficient for a similar spec system?

No. The oem is HEC who are mediocre at best. There are no reviews for the V3 but the V2 units got pretty poor reviews, 7.5-8.5 out of 10 and with the choice available these days at reasonable prices I wouldn't touch a psu that scored less than 9 out of 10 and wasn't from a top tier oem.

The EVGA Supernova G2 units are what you should be looking at. That 10 year warranty plus the oem (Superflower) and specs makes them pretty much unbeatable for their price.
