Hi all

I have old dell PC STUDIO XPS ( 2010 model) which is i5, 8GB ram and low power gfx card which has a 200w psu in it. I suspect the PSU no longer working and need something new but I am not sure of compatibility. Most of the PSU dimensions I have seen seem very large and willl not fit. Dell want to charge me extortion price for a PSU which apparently is refurbished.

I measured the PSU and its approximately 9cm Height x 14cm W x 15cm D ( these measurements are if you are looking at the PSU side on when taking off the case.

I wanted to buy a 350w psu from OCUK preferably, just not sure of size. The only other issue is that the PSU and case has very little clearance so any fan that is ontop of the PSU might have difficulty with airflow, not sure, would it be possible to mount the PSU upside down?

Thanks for looking.

As long as the original PSU complied with the ATX standards (if there is such a thing) then any ATX PSU will fit, but you would have to look at the depth in case there is limited space because of any devices taking up space like DVD drives.

Looks like any PSU will work, but measure the available space and make sure you don't get one which is too long! :)

thanks for the advice everyone, I will remove the PSU and take more accurate measurements before buying new PSU. Hopefully I can find a adequate even though the case is very small on space.

Thanks :)

The ATX power supplies will work, what you will find though is that the metal chassis will foul the black plastic surround of the three pin input. The workaround is to file/cut or bend it by 5mm or so and itll be grand, I have a couple of different Dell psus removed from Vostros if you want to see if any of them would fit then whack an advert up?
