I have the PC below which has had a small upgrade from a core2quad.. I use it for bit of retro stuff, i have windows 10 on one SSD and windows XP on the other... Whilst the PC isnt really worth anything, i want to make sure ive got a semi decent PC for the job and not take the pc with it if it goes pop. the current one is GameMax GP-550 which i got from rainforest which i can keep as a spare. Im pretty confident its Poo. I do have a spare SilverStone SX500-G INTRODUCTION (silverstonetek.com) i could just use that, i do have the ATX adaptor plate i assume 500w is enough??? the game max probably wasnt deliverying 500w anyway

The Silverstone is a decent psu and has all of it's 500w available on it's 12v rail so is more than enough for that pc. Despite the Gamemax pretending to be a 550w unit the Silverstone has more power available on it's 12v rail. Does that Gamemax really only have a single 6+2 pin pci-e connector? That alone would set my alarm bells ringing.

yes single 6+2 split lol :) The Silverstone is in , only took 5 mins as i had extensions on the mobo, cpu, gpu cables, which would be needed anyway with the short SFX cables. looks so tiny inside massive case. but its hidden behind the shroud now.
