PSU for Q6600

Is a 550W PSU ok for a Q6600 system?

depends on what else you have on you're system and the quality of the psu.

if you can get a look at it post the make and you should have a label on it detailing amp on the various rails (12v etc).

The stats are:

+3.3v = 28A
+5v = 35A
+12v = 30A
-5v = 0.5A
-12v = 0.8A
+5vsb = 2.5A

It is called: Extra Value 550W ATX Silent Neon PSU - 12cm Fan/PPFC (no power cord) from another supplier.

I will have 2gb ram (still to decide what type) and a Sapphire HD 3450 graphics card.

The make is slightly worrying although 30A on the +12V is enough for Q6600 and HD 3450. But then with cheap PSUs you'll never know if they actually output specified ampage.

agree that the name is slightly worrying, if possible i would maybe think about getting a known unit, better to keep ya new q6600 safe than frazzled by a dodgy psu
