Okay chaps, I just ordered a Sapphire r9 290x tri-x oc to pair with my 4770k. Do you think my gold rated Superflower 550W PSU will be able to handle this or should I upgrade to 750W+?

Cheers for any help.

google and try psu watt calc and click on the first link and input your spec to see what comes up.

550w might be able to handle it but got no idea why you didnt opt for the more ample 750-850w options

The other question is:

Will you be looking to Crossfire with another Sapphire r9 290x tri-x oc in the future?

If so go bigger and save yourself the money in the future.

The psu is fine. These Golden green PSU's have great internals. The PSU sports 546w on the 12v rail, so unless you overclock the GPU, your PSU should be fine.

290x will peak at 300w at stock clocks. Gives you enough space and a bit of overhead for the 4770k. If you go beyond a moderate clock for the CPU and try going more than a basic clock for the GPU, you will probably run into some issues.
