Hi,

I have a SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 650W at the moment but thinking of upgrading to two R9 390's in crossfire. I assume 650w is not going to be enough?

What's the minimum wattage I would need and any PSU in particular you would recommend? thanks. :)

MSI quote 275W power consumption for their 390 so for 2 in crossfire I suspect you're going to need 850W plus.

Thanks. Just looking at the ones on OcUK, there are a couple of 800w ones on offer, like this. Do you think I could stretch to that? or would it not be enough. Seems a shame to spend like £20-30 more to get 850w

edit: If 850w is better may go for this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-043-SS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2466 Or this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-017-EA&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2466

Hmm can't decide

Have a look at the EVGA below:

Comes with a 10 year warranty and made by Superflower.

Thanks will consider that one. :)

could maybe go with a 750w but depends on what the rest of the pc is

2x Qnix QX2710 @ 2650x1440 @ 115Hz
i7 4770k /w Corsair Hydro H80 Liquid Cooler
Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 4Gb (will change obv)
16GB DDR3 2400MHz
Gigabyte Z87-D3HP
Samsung 840 250GB
ASUS Xonar D2

and 4 HDDs 2-4TBs

and i'll also add 3rd monitor after upgrading to crossfire.

I'm using the 850 supernova, works great with my 290x crossfire, I tested with a watt meter to make sure it wast gonna overload it, but I couldn't get my setup to draw more than 750 watts, even with both cards at 1.4v and the CPU at 1.38.

Don't cheap out on the psu, especially for such a power hungry pc. If I were looking for a 850w psu right now my money would go on the EVGA Supernova P2 850w. A 850w platinum rated psu for £110 is a bargain. It's built by Superflower and based on their own Leadex Platinum platform and has a whopping 10 year warranty.

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA SuperNova P2 850W '80 Plus Platinum' Modular Power Supply £109.99

Slightly cheaper is the XFX XTR850w at £100. It's built by Seasonic but only has a 5 year warranty.

YOUR BASKET
1 x XFX XTR 850W '80 Plus Gold' Fully Modular Power Supply £99.95

Slightly off-topic

Deciding on a PSU for my build with a 390 and 6700k. Is your 650w enough power for overclocking cpu and gpu?
