I'm building a budget server and will be rehousing it to a desktop case over xmas. I'm looking for a new psu as the server ones it came with are far too loud.

I'm currently looking at the EVGA 600w below .It has 49A on the 12v rail so hoping its enough.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £39.95
(includes shipping: £0.00)

The server has 2 x5650's, 32gb of ram, LSI raid card and will have about 6-10 mech hdds. Anybody know if the EVGA will power it okay or any other suggestions? Thanks for any advice the current PSU is below.

What will the server be used for?

That budget EVGA unit doesn't have 2 CPU power connectors, so are you planning on getting 2 PSUs or 1 big one?

Server PSUs can tend to be loud compared to consumer PSUs.

The server is getting used for a file server, a few game servers, network render if I can get it working and some boinc stuff so it will hit full load.

The motherboard (Intel sc5500bc) has a single 8pin (4+4) connector for the cpu's which I think most modern PSU's come with.

I know the EVGA is a cheap unit but I'm trying to keep the cost's to a minimum while still being safe. I only want to use 1 PSU. The new case has space for two so it is an option.

Oh, OK then. I'm not that familiar with server boards.

That is a cheap unit that is only 80 plus certified and isn't bronze rated. What is your budget?

With 6-10 hdds, you're almost certainly going to need some molex-sata adaptors.

Don't really want to be spending more than 60 for the PSU I've got some molex-sata and some sata splitters already.

Thanks for the help it's my first server board and I was surprised it's standard PSU connectors thought it would be proprietary stuff.

TBH an adaptor is an adaptor. If you've got 'em, use 'em. They're only SATA adaptors after all. It's not like they're ancient PCI-E adaptors.
