Soon going to be building myself a new gaming rig and unsure about power supply requirements.

I have a corsair hx520w but I'm guessing that isn't up to the job?

If its not could anyone recommend me a replacement, must be quiet.

Many thanks.

The HX520 will be fine. I know it's a few years old now, but the internals of that unit are good and will happily run a 970.

The only time you need to look above 550W is if you're either running a very high OC or you have multiple graphics cards.

A good 500W power supply ought to do you fine with a 970 and a 6700.

If you're planning on keeping the power supply for years to come though, it may be worth considering whether you think you'll want beefier components in the future that would increase your power requirements, in which case it might be best to future proof with a higher wattage power supply now.

I had the 6700k o/c to 4.5ghz (upto to 4.9ghz and one point) with a evga gtx 970 ftw using a corsair HX 620W. Worked absolutely fine.

I've not got a 980ti and few other things so decided to upgrade to a evga 850w P2.
