Hello sorry I couldn't find a psu subsection I hope this is in the correct area.

I'm building my new pc consisting of;

•i7 3930k(own)
•asus x79 sabertooth
•32gb 1800mhz cl9 corsair dominator.(own)
•corsair 128gb SSD
•2x msi 7970 lightning.
•2x 1tb Samsung f1 HDD(own)
•fully water-cooled with a D5 vario (or two)
• 8 x scythe ap-14s(own)
•lamptron fc touch(own)

I have specced a 1000w be quiet power pro p8 for my psu.

The question is, is this overkill for the system or could I use a 900w version?

One of those (the 1200W is an option if you want to go over the top) the Seasonic+Silverstones are very nice.

I obviously will be overclocking:) but wouldn't 1200w be too much? So you don't reccomend be quiet psus? As little as 850w? That should save me a bit of money.

Sorry for extra questions. Thanks for the reply:)

Sorry I have so little experience with psus.

Well it wont use 1200W all the time, it only uses what the components actually need.

It just gives you massive headroom.

I see no reason (even with all the fans/water pumps/twin cards etc) that the 850W Seasonic+Silverstone wont be ample either.

A good 850 W should be up to the job.

All these suggestions have a silent fanless mode (the Plat one lets you turn this off) when your not using much power.

The BeQuiet isn't quite as good and costs more. :>
