Just setting up a GTX480 SLI setup and want to use an old 8800 for Physx. However my 800W PSU doesn't enough PCI-e connectors. Is it OK to use Molex adapters or do I need a new PSU and if so which one?

Cheers.

Andi.

I'm not an expert but I'd say you're pushing the limit with 800W for 480 SLI + 8800.

I would feel safer with 1000W but thats me.

EDIT:

why the 8800 for physX

I'm sure the 480's would cope fine.
Taking the 8800 out I think you'd be (just about) okay.

Simply because it's there

Indeed, you are going to have to spend a lot more money just to get those 3 cards in there. 850W + PSUs are expensive. Also 2 480 in SLI should cope with everything with ease, unless you have a 3, 30" monitor set up! :)

+1 for 1KW+

You might find that the 8800gt actually slows games down with PhysX though.
