Trying to determine which PSU to go for, any suggestion would be appreciated ;)

Spec:
EVGA X99 Micro 2
i7-5820K
980Ti Reference 2-way SLI

I think most people run 850W for 980Ti SLI w/ Z97 platform, so would I need at least 1000W for X99 platform if I am going to do some OC (e.g. 4.5G @1.27V)?

I would get a 1000w to be safe and have some headroom, if I ever decided to go SLI that's what I would do to keep things stable and reliable.

I run a Corsair TX 750w old PSU now and is stable and has always been very reliable and all the rails operate at the correct voltages and wattage to this day, so avoiding upgrading it to any of these digital PSUs available now that seem to blow up or take out your system. The TX 750 has been tested to 900watts in reviews and most class it as a 900watt supply. BUT I pull no more than 400-450watts none overclocked with the system in my signature (This is from the UPS stats, also I have a 34" ultrawide connected too to the UPS (screen about 50watts) and when overclocked it will pull almost another 100+watts. So 550watts total from a 750w supply, so leaves me 200watts approx headroom.

Get a good none digital PSU 1000w because if you overclock the cpu with 1.3v core and the sli 980ti's to about 1400mhz+ it will pull approx 750watts at it's max, will be rare but it can max out at that, so give yourself a 200-250watt cushion to keep the system stable and the psu in it's high efficiency range.

If you are not overclocking the graphics cards and only the CPU, you may get away with the 850w you have depending which one you have, what make and model PSU is the 850w you have ?

No I havent got a 850W Psu, I was looking to replace current Seasonic Snow Silent 1050 due to size constraint.

But I guess Im better off keeping it then :D (not that people would buy it off me at a price I'm confortable with anyway)

You would be crazy to sell that PSU, it's a great one. Actually one of the ones I was going to recommend to you if you decided you were after a 1000w PSU. :)

Keep it and enjoy it for a good few years. Maybe if you have size constraints a new case is a better purchase ?

Sadly the current case actually fit perfectly to my desk and there isn't another one that I like atm lol

Yeah SnowSilent is absolutely brilliant, not that a lot of people appreciate them though :(

I guess I'll just have to put some work in jamming my loop components in a tight space :D

Thanks anyway, glad we clear that up
