hi,
when i had my q6600 rig going i used a tagan 480w psu from my previous rig to power it. this ran fine for some time with an over clock ranging from 3.2 to 3.6, 4gig ram in 4 sticks, usual other gubbins hds etc.
all was grand untill one night doing some heavy runs of intel burn test there was a bit of a flash coming from the psu area at the back and the system went down refusing to start again.
i then went and replaced the tagan with a cosair 850 tx which still serves me well in my current sb rig.
would like to reuse this psu if possible so opened it up and the internal fuse was gone so found a low amp fuse from a car charger (1.5a) and fitted it to the psu, and it blew instantly in the same fashion the original 10a fuse went.
was wondering if any of you with more psu knowledge than me would say if it was worth finding a 10a fuse and trying again or if its jsut a case of the psu being goosed.
one one had i am thinking with the initial power draw of a psu on start up even with just a fan connected for testing it may be enough to blow the low a fuse on the other hand the psu may be fried and putting in a larger fuse will jsut have the same effect
any ideas appreciated!
