Got my brand new Ultra X3 1000W PSU today.

It's an absolute beauty! Cables are amazing and look perfect for sleeving.

So I grabbed my pc, took out my buggy old PSU and put this work of art in.

After some cable management, I decided it was time to turn it on.

I get greated by squeel, then a small BOOM!.

Then nothing.....
Smell of something burnt, so I quickly grab the pc and start looking and smelling everywhere.

My psu made the funky smell.

I tried again to start, and nothing, it spins its fan but nothing except some chassis fans start up.

Tried it in a different pc and still nothing, sometimes it makes a high pitched squeel but that's it.

Guess It's time to RMA. Sadly the place I got it from don't sell Ultra products anymore and means that there are no places left in the EU to get them.

I seemed to have gotten their last Ultra product.

RMA, have you tried your old psu again? Hope it hasn't took out anything else.

Do you need 1000w? Whats your system spec?

The 1000w is for a new build, I just wanted to test it.

I popped the old PSU in and everything is working, cept my graphics card is making a high-pitched electronic buzzing sound now :(

Sounds like it blew up something from secondary... explaining also possible damage to graphic card.

Ultra is bling brand, not serious brand so would be better to always do first "test firing" without components connected.

"Ultra is bling brand, not serious brand"

EXACTLY.

In the states it seems to be a very Serious brand.

Either way if I can't get a replacement, I ment get a corsair or a PCPower and cooling one.

You should have got a decent psu in the first place. Count yourself lucky this time that it did'nt take anything with it.

The Yanks will buy anything.

Nice generalisations guys. Yes Ultra have a shoddy reputation in the PSU market but the x3 1000w is a genuinely good model.

Exactly, the X3 series is one of the best you can get according to reviews.
Seems I got a dud.

I emailed the place I got it from, but apparently they can't find my order details or account.

I even sent them a copy of my order confirmation and dispatch notes. Still nothing.

Either way it's the first and last time I am buying there.

They just better give me a replacement or refund.
