I have just purchased a Q9650 to upgrade my Q6600 - I'm going to donate my old chip to my daughter - I just need to check whether her existing PSU is going to be good enough
:
Current Specs

Intel e6300 (1.86 version)
Gigabyte G41-E2SL
2gig Geil DDR2 RAm (2 X sticks)
1 X 7900GS - with aftermarket cooler
2 X 120mm fans
1 X spot cooler for Northbridge
1 X Sony DVDRW
1 X Coolermaster Mystique 631 case
Akasa PaxPower 400W Ultra Quiet Power Supply (3ish years old)

The only thing I am changing is the CPU

Many thanks

Baldrick

Q6600 isnt THAT bad a power hog, and the 7900GS is a power efficient card. 400W will be more than enough, even with a light to moderate overclock.

Save the PSU upgrade for the day you have an old GPU to upgrade your daughters PC.
