Hi all,

Just started building a new pc, coming from a gaming laptop. Was wondering if the PSU i've picked out will be ok...

Decided to got for a Hiper 580W Modular Type R, in the following set up:

E6300 (O/C)
2gb ram
74gb Raptor
160gb Barracuda
2x DVD Drives
1 (or 2!) x mid/high range GPU's
No neons, or lights!!!

Also, can any recomend which mobo I should use, for about the £140 mark. Looking to have intel 975x chipset.

Many thanks

Persoanlly I would have gone with a Tagan or Seasonic PSU instead. The Hiper Type R should be fine, but there seems to be quite a few reports of them going dodgy.

The Hiper Type R is a top class PSU. I used one myself until week ago. Modular PSUs are just no good in a Lian Li v1000 if you want to use all the drive bays, I also read too many conflicting views so I changed over to the OCZ.

Cheers for the help, still a bit confused, tbh!

Think i'll leave the hiper though, read a lot of mixed opinions, although they always do well in reviews...

Thanks for the mobo help too, think i'll take a look at that abit one. Had my doubts about the asus p5w as its been around quite a while.

Any more thoughts would be apreciated.

Do like my Seasonic myself and will also add that i thought i had an issue with it recently and emailed them. They replied within 24hrs! and also with a useful reply !

My 5 dead ones would disagree with you.

Seasonic have been flawless with me, Hiper Type-R 580w PSU's are on a 3 month till failure rate on my almost modest rig.
