Over the last few days my pc has randomly stopped, not shut down, all temps were fine but tonight it did it and won't turn on, I just get a flicker of power when I press the power on button but I have to turn it off and on at the wall to get that.
My 1st impressions are PSU
I have a 650w Antec true power supply but over the last few months I have upgraded some stuff, ok here's the spec....

Phenom 2 x 4 965 BE at stock
12 gb DDR g-skill Ripjaws
120gb Corsair force 3 SSD
500gb Samsung spin point F3
640gb WD sata 2
160 gb maxtor diamond max IDE
Sapphire Radeon HD 6870
Samsung 2233BW monitor
Samsung S23A700D 3D monitor
Can anyone confirm this is looking like a PSU prob as I suspect and also recommend a good replacement.
Thanks

yes i think it might be the psu although if you could might no be a bad idea to test your computer first with a different one to see if that is the problem?
Hmmm that's not going to be possible to be honest, no accessible pc or PSU to test, blame that on iPads and laptops lol

lol right ok...hm. if it is starting to power on then it might not be the psu's fault it could be the motherboard it could be the cpu so whether or not you want to send your PSU back and get a replacement to then find out there was no need is up to you but i would recommend to do so, test it and if it does work great, if not well you have a new psu and it rules out the psu

Yeah I would get a new PSU but looking at my build over the last year or so I am thinking my PSU is not really enough anyway. Been thinking about it tbh so this is no great shock, just needed some reassurance that it's looking that way, as I said before, no heating issues at all,
1 x 200mm fan on top
1 x 150mm fan at front
1 x 100mm fan at side
1 x 100mm fan at back ( all running in unison blowing and pulling out as needed)
Temps rarely go over
50 degrees CPU
60 degrees gpu.
Just a few times over the last week or so it just stopped but did restart, but then tonight it just stopped and here we are:)

Hmmm that's interesting to know. I was thinking with all my components it was definitely running the PSU on the edge.

unplug everything, hdds, dvd drives and case fans and see if it start or if it still does the same thing, if it does then remove the ram and only have one stick in at a time, fi that doesnt work try the pc without your graphics card and try the onboard graphics if that doesnt work then get a new psu and if that doesnt work then its either your mother board or your cpu

Thanks for your help, much appreciated, going to do that now :)

Ok still the same. See if it's the PSU 1st as its under warranty if not I still have the CPU under warranty ( bought march 2010) and will check on the asus mobo now.
Edit, last time I sent an asus mobo off to repair it took 8 months to get back to me,hmmmm hope it's the PSU now lol

8 MONTHS?!?!?!?!?!?!? how on earth did they justify 8 months could they not have just taken yours back and then sent you a new one and repaired the old one

also sorry to hear none of that worked

Lol yeah, I did have another board to go on with but yeah it went through **** and I even took it to **** to send off, not sure who's fault it was but it was 8 months later.
My current mobo is the M4A79XTD EVO, no problems at all up to now, would be surprised if this is the problem, going to check the warranty now to see if it's still in.

no competitors

Gilly

lol, if your saying it is cutting out while your using it and then wont turn on it has to be either the psu, motherboard or cpu its one of those hopefully you wont have to wait 8 months for replacements

Well it cut out maybe 2 or 3 times, but now it won't power on, there is enough juice to turn the fans for a split sec and turn the case lights on the same but that's it. Oh and for those trying to to get a replacement on the Antec website on an iPad, it won't work properly as you need flash enabled, best turn your pc on to do that, oh I forgot, your pc is broke lol, back to the laptop, oh my god what a game this is!
