psu internals

i was wondering, can you tell if a psu is any good by looking at what internals it has?

if i were to post up some pics of one would you be able to tell me if its any good or not?

Not really, usually just easier to look for reviews and see if it sucks or not.

What is the make+model?

theres no branding on the thing. just one that was in a computer. there is a label which says it has 3x 12v rails at 24a each but no more info, wondered if looking at the internals if youd be able to tell if it was made from decent componants

I suppose if theres actually something inside with some "substance" then thats better than a tiny heatsink and a few sparse components on a tiny PCB etc.

But really you are still driving blind unless there is some makers mark inside.

ive got a tx650 on the way for my new build. just wondered if it was worth using this psu for anything other than binning it.

I you have an older PC that you don't have much love for and don't mind using an unbranded PSU on? then do that.

Even if it isn't branded there should be regulatory approval numbers of some sort. They can usually be used to trace the OEM.
