This morning I noticed a strange smell from my PC. Like burning and a weird noise. My pc has always been noisy and random. I've been having lots of random restarts lately (even when just on the net) While I was browsing all my screen went strange, like the GFX card had gone. The txt was doubling and there were lines going up and down.

I turned it off and took the PSU out. It was roasting and smelt bad.

I just bought a Q-TEC 650 from *competitor!* but I'm going to take it back and order one online after reading how bad they are.

Could I have ruined my ATI card? To be honest, I feel like just selling what left over parts I can and buying a Mac Pro.

It was an Encer 500 watt PSU. I have an Athlon XP 3200, gig of ram, a PCI audio interface, ATI 9800 Pro and 2 Seagates.

I also have 2 USB instruments (keyboard and drum thing) plugged in all the time which take power.

Any suggestions on what to buy? I really don't want to be spending loads.

You're willing to buy a mac pro but don't want to spend a bit on a good PSU that can last for a few builds? O_o

Whats your budget?
