Hi all,

I left a new PSU on a heater today thinking it was off and was in a rush. Came back 30mins later and it was red hot and smelt funny. Now its cooled down the smell has gone but is it safe to use do you think? :(

Yea I didnt dare have a go before I left work, I will have a go tomorrow and put it into the PSU tester before a computer. I cant believe it I totaly forgot about it. I dont no what power it is all I no is its old and rubbish but does get very hot and yes it was on full power :(

How did you come to leave your PSU on top of a heater in the first place? I know if ihad my psu out and needed somewhere to put it down i would put it on the floor before putting it on my radiator...

No idea if it will be ok but if you need to check then do as lowrider says!

No idea mate :p I just put it down I didnt think it was on tbh.

Anyway I tested it this morning and it seems fine. The supply has been in a pc now and on for around an hour now with no fire or explosion ;)
