one of my last jobs i had to do computer repairs and the most common fault was a dead PSU. They used to die any where between instantly to several years so i came to view PSUs as consumables. I'm just interested to see how long peoples PSUs have lasted. i personally *touch wood* havent had a PSU go on one of my machines. my current one is an enermax 550w that must be about 4 years old now.

Ive got an old pc with a psu which is a few years old now, its a Pentium 3. The current one in my main rig has so far lasted . . . . 4 months and still going str£$"£$%%%&%^%&*.. .. ... ... .. . . FIZZZZBBBLLLZZZZZ *BANG*

i think they go because people buy cheap components that cant actually produce the output they claim and have instabilities? its more of a guess so i mite be talking out of my behind. but ive built a few PC's and if you pick a good quality PSU they dont seem to go wrong any more than anything else.

Well Ive had my enermax noisetaker 600watt psu since I built my pc about 26months ago. I have my pc is on about 16hrs a day, and its still going strong.. touch wood :D The first 15months or so It was powering 2 6800gt cards aswell.

it doesn't help when they do blow because they're one of the most annoying things to replace if you cable tie them up
