hey my psu has started to make a funny noise, im certain its just the fan because i stopped the fan on it and the noise stopped and then it comes back in and out every now and then, it sounds like bearings rubbing or something.... any advice what to do about it? coudl i just oil the fan? but that involves opening it and risk of voiding warrenty/death :p

Buy compressed air and give it some heavy fresh breath both from the fan and the back. Be sure its clear from dust and anything else that can be there.

If this doesnt work, you can try oiling it a bit carefully from outside ( without opening it ), otherwise I've got no idea what can it be without opening it.

hummm thoguht i cured it by jabbing the fan :p but no :( it only comes in now and then..... sounds so weird tho, not that loud but cos i want everything amazing i can hear it... damm being a perfectionist :p

well ive had it for like 2 months now and well i cant really rma it atm cos i really ned my pc to write my dissertation! ahhhh

well ive bought an air duster but yet it still make the noise, went through a spell of not doing it but it started up again so bought the air duster... and it's still making the noise. in fact its even more frequent and louder :( really getting on my nerves!!! i bought it jan/feb. so where do i stand, what are my options? if i do rma it i need to have a psu for my pc or i have no computer atall and have finial year work still left to do so what should i do?

Hammer it.

You can try opening it any changing the fan if you feel comfortable enough with electronics and stuff like this.
But if you've never done that I wouldnt recommend it, you also will loose your warranty.
