PSU/MODO Blown?

Ok heres what happened, Just bought a 4870 and took out my old card put new one in with both power connects and turned it on and all I got was a GPU fan blowing loudly, no signal from monitor.

Put my old card back in and GPU fan powers up but none of the motherboard or CPU fan. After a few seconds it stops and starts again, no signal.

The psu is a Hiper 580.

Any ideas?

Hiper don't have the best record, it has to be said. The fact that the GPU fan is going though suggests more to me that it's the motherboard, though it is still possible it's the PSU. No chance of static damage or anything like that?

Nope, was using an antistatic band. Gona have to try another psu in it tomorrow see if anything changes.

UPDATE: Turns out it was my motherboard. Everything else is fine.

I would get that PSU replaced asap while it's still working, you don't want it to be the PSU next time round as your hardware could be damaged.
