Hi all, it's my bro's B'day the end of this month and was thinking bout getting him a new psu. He's just got a cheap and nasty one at the moment running is set up ( [email protected], 2gig Ram, 6800 Ultra ) and he's thinking about upgrading his graphics card, possibly to a 8800gts. How his current psu won't be anywhere near up to the job so can anyone recommend a good psu for less than £60 that will be suitable?? I know budget is low considering it might be powering a gts but thats my absolute max, what would be up to the job for that price?

Many thanks.

Either the one t31os suggests or another couple of options would be the Akasa Paxpower 500w or the OCZ Modstream 520w, all are the same price.
;)

I'm a sucker for FSP, always found them to be very reliable.

thanks guys, there the one's I've been looking at, take it they'd all handle the gts ok then?? Also take it the hyper is a no no?? Seen a lot of mixed reports, either very good or they seem to go bang

lol yet according to your sig you have an enermax :p

If he had a higher budget i'd say Enermax possibly, but the corsair PSU seem to good lately, so i think i'd opt for recommending either of those had the budget been higher.. ;)

I brought an Enermax myself because they had good reviews at the time and fit my budget. I can't stick to 1 brand all the time, i'll never know what anything else is like. :)
