Well, my PSU went pop and now my comp doesnt work.... grrrrr

Looking for a new one, rig is relatively mid range, 3.2ghz P4, 3 HDDs, 2 disc drives an X800xl gfx, and one of the XFI sound cards, has about 8 fans in it tho lol.

Want a middle range PSU that is reliable, bt at the same time able to support me upgrading in the relatively near future to a better GFX and processor.

Your thoughts please, not looking to spend mega money, bt reliability is worth some cost ^^

The 520 would do his rig

I don't think I have ever read anything bad about the Corsair PSU.

It seems well made, so should also be reliable.

definately corsair, the 620w would be overkill for your system, but if you can afford it, it should last you a long time. Otherwise, 520w will be more than adequate for a while (will support a quad and a gtx with ease..)

The 620 costs a little more than i am willing to spend, as a student i need 2 eat next year as well :D
The corsairs seem 2 have a lot of support for u guys, so i will see if i can stretch to the 520.

Any other recomendations if i would want something a little cheaper?

I'm not too sure where you can go if you want to upgrade to a better cpu and graphics card. You could get a P4 3.6Ghz CPU but its not much of an improvement. As far as graphics cards go then if your system is an AGP then something like a x1950pro would be the best you can get. You will need a good PSU to run it as its a bit of a juice guzzler.

The Corsair 520w would seem the best option if you are going to upgrade in the future to the max your motherboard will go to.

Look at my sig i have 4 hard drives aswell on this all runs fine on
corsair 520hx only reason to go any higher is if you plan on sli in the future
power consumption is going down not up the new cards will require less
watts all about power saving in the future.
