Building a 5080 & 9800x3d build (if I can actually get a 5080) and chipping away at all the components this past week ordering stuff ready.

This is my first build by myself so everything all very very new to me but I’m stuck on what PSU to get.

Been looking at the HX1200i Corsair platinum. I’m looking at 1200w so can future proof this setup if I decide to go to a 5090 soon. Seen a few builds on Twitter where people are going for c1200 NXZT which is around £150 but Gold and the corsair is platinum for an extra £60 I think.

I’m currently using this as a reference point which has the Corsair higher but I’ve never bought a psu so don’t know if anyone had any good recommendations.

Any help much appreciated thank you

Not worth it for the platinum. Nzxt c1200 is good enough
Thanks for the reply, just seen online only a 2% difference between gold and platinum.

Is ATX3.0 vs ATX3.1 a big deal for PSU says online regarding its delay

Not a big deal. Cross posting my reply from another thread:
the main difference is only the connector that's changed from 12VHPWR to 12V-2x6 - but these are cross-compatible so not much of a difference
barring the connector which is a non-issue in most cases, an ATX 3.0 compliant PSU is actually better than an ATX 3.1 PSU as the 3.0 spec is more stringent than the 3.1 spec (specifically, the reduction in hold-up time in the 3.1 spec)
