Heya, thinking of upgrading in the coming months..

So far thinking of getting:

Q6660 and OCing (hopefully to 3.2-3.6 - although never Oced before >< )
2x500gig F1's in Raid 0 with perhaps eventually another couple to make RAID 0,1 or 1,0 - need to research that too ;(
A new noctua 120mm plus TRUE Heatsink
2x2Gb of RAM
An Asus p5ke-wifi, with wifi being used some of the time but not always.
And perhaps one of the new ATi cards (depending on how they perform to cost)

Will eventually get a Blu Ray Drive and replace my existing DVD drive, a new soundcard, preferabbly a decent xi-fi with Dolby Digital encoding.
Also thinking about getting some CC Tubes and a Fan controller.

Currently have 2 120mm Akasa Amber's and perhaps 4 things that power off the USB (mouse, keyboard etc so not huge drain).

Now my question is, will a 480W PSU cope?

Thinking of getting a Corsair Modular but 660W doesn't seem a great improvement on my current situation and the 1kW is a bit steep aswell as the parts for upgrading.

Looked all over the internet to find a good calc, and everyone seems to give a vastly different answer - one being 343W when gaming another nearly 700.

Will definately upgrade to the 1kW in the future - just need to know whether I need it before I upgrade or sometime after.

Thanks a lot.

Crikey, cheers for the quick reply.. so do you reckon my 480W would struggle?

Would upgrade to a bigger PSU than 520W if I was too upgrade now, because some of these new GPU seem like right ol' hogs when it comes to power..

Cheers, yeah, usually try my best to keep things pretty future proof. Would still use my CPU if PCI-E hadn't have taken over AGP.

My lil XP 3200+ still runs ruddy quick, but my 9800 XT is a bit slow although must be a fair few years old now - and yeah I know NV and Ati both have AGP cards.. Im not 100% sure they'd be much of an improvement and kinda feels like I'm throwing money away by buying them.

Ohh maybe I'm being a bit too hasty, what RAM do you use? Currently have 2x512mb Corsair Twin X - thought I had 2 gigs.. that was a bit of a shock when I saw POST for the first time in a while ;)

I mean to be fair money aint exactly burning a whole in my wallet, just heard that the Q6660 is being phased out soonish and sounds like something even I could OC, but perhaps I just need to give some TLC and replace a few bits.

Very true, there is always something on the horizon.. was wondering if there was anyway I could hold out till the new intel chips come out, but think this comp would ahve moved onto a better place (Media PC ;) ).

Will deffo have to look into the possibility of keeping this going, because to be fair it does run everything I need to, just about.

Cheers
