Hi,

I'm looking to purchase this setup for as my work PC and I've been advised that a 430PSU supplies more than enough power the components I've chosen below but I thought I'd check with you guys.

Here's the spec...

  • Z77 Gamer Intel Core i5 3570K 3.40GHz @ 4.50GHz DDR3 Ivybridge Overclocked Bundle
  • Samsung 120GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TD120BW)
  • Corsair Builder Series CX 430w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020058-UK)
  • Cooler Master K280 Midi Tower Case - Black (RC-K280-KKN1)
  • OcUK Value 2mtr HDMI Male - Cable Male (CDLHD-302)

I'm not purchasing a dedicated graphics card as it's a work PC.

Also, if anyone thinks they can better this spec before I buy it please let me know! This costs £530.93 inc VAT and delivery and I can't go over this figure.

Cheers,
Paul

The PC will primarily be used with Adobe CS6 and specifically Premiere Pro so I'll be doing a fair amount of HD video encoding.

Will the PSU be enough for this spec, whether 3570K or 3550K?

Well in that case you may want to consider an i7. The hyper threading ability of i7's will be a big benefit for HD video encoding.

Your PSU will cope with your spec but if it was me I'd be happier with a 500W. It just gives you a little headroom for any future upgrades.

Also, to be honest I can't be bothered with applying thermal paste myself and the bundle comes pre-built! Everone seems to recommend the D3H board too. I understand this is supposed to be a very good board but if the Asus board in the bundle still manages to overclock to 4.50GHz is the D3H board really required? What makes the D3H board so good?

the d3h is good for the overclocking ability, no voltage locks you can overclock very easily but if the asus board does it for you then there is no point in the z77-d3h

Hmmm i dont know enough about video stuff so i could'nt say on the cpu, there is a lad on here who does the same kind of thing and he uses an i7 so probs best to go down that route after all. Still 430w psu will be plenty without a gpu.

Have you considered the Intel Core i7 2700K as this is still a monster chip and will offer better performance for your uses I think compaired to the i5 3570K .... could be wrong tho.

EDIT - Lucky Number 777 post :D

No cooler but a Cpu more suited to the job. You can always add a cooler at a later date. 16GB of ram would also be better, but wont fit in your budget.
