PSU okay for sli?

It's an older system [email protected]
gigabyte z87 g1 sniper
currently running 1x ref 980 and looking at adding a second he can acquire for cheap.

his psu is a 1~ year old EVGA 650GS and the EVGA site states 54amp and 648w on the 12v rail (single)

im unsure on the 980 power draw so thought I'd ask here :)
 
Nvidia states that the recommendation for a single 980 in terms of PSU is 500W but states the max power draw is 165W so based on that, you should be ok to run SLI.

You need to look at the amps on the 12v rail(s) that's just as important.

Some PSUs have high advertised wattage but a crappy amperage on the 12v supply.
