Behind you... Naked!
As the title.

I recently bought a case, its bloody awful and the PSU while only a day old has already started whining at me.

Im 50-50 on keeping the case or getting a refund.

The thing is... I love the case and its absolutely perfect for the task I set it.. Media player for my sons bedroom - it fits absolutely perfectly in their unit.

Anyway, are these size PSUs available ? Are they a standard, and if so, then do they have a specific name that I need to use when looking for a new one?

I did think SFX but then looking around, I see other various sizes so thats not a specific type is it?

Im kind of thick in this area, so... Help?

I know about FSP branding... Yeah, it IS ironic.

Ok, so SFX is a standard, thats great to know.

Last night, I stripped the PSU down... Typical me, I could get a full refund, but I hate waiting, so I have just invalidated the warranty simply because I dont want to wait 2 more days!

And this is for a PC that is currently sat on my bed in the living room waiting for my kids to take it up info teh attic to be sat there for god knows how long.

I truly am a plonker.

Anyway, I striupped the PSU down and sure enough a wire had come lose and was flapping onto the fan. The overall quality of the PSU wasnt too good, however I swapped the fan with a better quality one, and cable-tied a couple of questionable wires and it sorted it out a treat.

I think what probably happened is that the wire was simply lose and when the PSU warmed up it made the fan spin at full pelt and it prised the wire lose. Now with a better FAN, the thing ran for a good few hours absolutely silently and the PSU didnt warm up at all.

That being said, I think I will still look out for SFX power supplies because I have converted my old Atari Falcon to work with a PC PSU and these smaller ones are near perfect for it.

So, many thanks mate.
