I have had my system running for a couple of years now, but I replaced the PSU last year from a cheap one bundled with the case to an Antec True Power 550, which was working fine for 11 months. Now the machine has problems switching on when cold (as in first thing in the morning it is worst), reboots are OK, but if the PC has been left of for any length of time then it struggles to get into Windows.
The problem seems to be power, as the PC turns on OK, but pauses and restarts a few times while booting. I have 2 x 36GB WD Raptors which when plugged in really click, and spin up, so I know exactly when the problem occurs, however the case fans dont stop spinning.
The system has an Antec True Power 550 PSU, Asus A7N8X-E, Athlon XP 3200, 2 x 36GB Raptors, 120GB IBM Deskstar HDD and Samsung Spinpoint 250GB HDD, DVD-RW, Floppy Drive and 1.5GB RAM.
I have been in contact with Antec who will echange the PSU if faulty however I will have to pay for it to be sent to and returned from Holland = (Quite Expensive)
If anyone could make any suggestions I would be extremely grateful.
