Got my new board up and running the other night. Last night i started to get random reboots and shutdowns. Turns out the connection between the my psu's 24pin power plug and my board 24pin power socket if is a bit iffy. If i touch it slightly n systems loses power.

I never had this problem with my previous board so just wondering if its a problem with my new board socket or my psu's 24pin power plug

Does'nt it lock? The plug should have something like a hook on it that clips onto a raised lip on the motherboards socket when inserted correctly. Some plugs need a bit of pressure to go into the socket and lock down properly.

It could be either but I would say its more likely your PSU as it plugs into the motherboard, and maybe you damaged it when you unplugged it from your old motherboard.

If you still have your old board maybe you could try the PSU out on there see if its also unstable if you touch the cable.

You have checked that you locked the cable in properly on the socket on the motherboard and that the locking clip isnt broken on the PSU cable.

im pretty sure the cable is locked on. I have a spare psu knocking about somewhere, when i remove the board to fit my nb block i'll try it on the other psu

Look for dirt on the plug pins or in each socket - anything that could be causing a bad electrical connection. If you can find something small enough then give each pin and socket a dry wipe down.
