Hello All

I am having issues with my PSU (on a new build) randomly turning off for 1 second and turning back on, and I am thinking of buying a new PSU, but I have seemed to of missed placed the metal plate that use to be fitted to my case for normal sized PSU's.
And to save having a big hole there, I was wondering do OC or Antec sell these, because I dont want to buy a new case just for the plate.

If these are not available I may have to look for a completly new case.

So does anyone know if these are available to buy.

Thanks
Paul

Contact antec. Sounds like a grounding issue, possibly caused by the PSU not being attached properly.

What you mean, not attached properly, I have made up PC's since the 286/386 days, I know how to fit a PSU to a PC.

Or are you refering to a gounding issue due to a faulty PSU, if so then it must be a faulty batch due to several of my friends had the exact same issue as I am having and I have changed everything apart from the PSU so the issue is the PSU.

One of my friends have had their one replcaed a few times within a couple of months, they ended up buying a different brand.

Shouldn't be hard to make a bracket up yourself surely?

Yeah, I could, it shouldn't be that hard to do with a dremel and a sheet on ali, I was just hoping for the easiest way to resolve it.

LOL, knowing my luck I will just finish it and I will find the original bracket :P

I may even cut up an old PC case around the PSU fittings and mount that :P

What I meant is that it is not screwed into the case, so the case is not properly grounded. I am not 100% about this, but looking at one of my PSUs now it appears to have a grounding cable going to one of the threads where you screw the PSU to the case. May be wrong, but it seems like it may be used to ground your chassis, which is why you leave your PSU plugged in while working on the case.

And yeah, it would be nice to get the original bracket, however if you can't get anything from Antec you shouldn't have to resort to getting a new case. I'm sure you can get a template for the ATX PSU fitting but not sure about the Antec CP sizes, although you should be able to get it accurate enough from using the holes on the case.

Oh, na this PSU is fully attached, i am a fussy fart and have to have all screws to hold stuff in :P

As for when I work on my PC, I attach my wrist strap to my earthed desk :)
I use to be a Engineer Tech a few years back :)

Yeah, I may end up butchering and old tower case and cut that around the PSU area and hopefully it will fit ok :)

Oh, I see! I thought that the PSU you had was not fitted properly as you didn't have the bracket. Which PSU are you using now?

Good luck with the 'modding' xD

Oh, sorry I thought I had stated the PSU I am using atm...

I am using an "Antec CP 1000W Modular Power Supply [0761345-06101-8]" which is why I have lost my bracket :P
Several of my mates hade the same PSU as that and they all apart from 1 had issues with them.

Shame to hear you are having an issue with that PSU, I have read a lot of good things about the quality of the PSU and I was hoping a larger form factor PSU like the CPs may become more standard rather than just making them longer.

Thats what myself a my mates thought, we all brought these PSU's around the same time from different venders and all had the same issue.
This is the very first PSU issue that I have had in all the years I have been building PC's.

I may even buy a sheet of 5mm PVC and cut that to fit, saves killing an old case and is a lot easier to cut, oh and I will need to add a earth wire.
