Hey guys, I noticed this happening a while ago. If I switch the computer off at the PSU, when it comes to switching it back on again it makes a pretty audible pop.

Now, perhaps this is normal, but I wanted to make sure before something happens and takes out my whole computer.

The psu is a corsair hx620.

Thanks :)

my HX620 started making that noise but only when using the normal front panel on/off button, then one day not long after it really went pop! with a flash from inside the psu & a burnt smell. now it's in RMA :p ( it didn't take anything with it i'm pleased to say ).

Argh don't say that! :D I have a ton of uni work to do. So do you think it'll need RMA'ing? Hopefully it can hold on for just a few more weeks.

Doesn't sound encouraging whatever it is...

However, make sure you're backing up everything before you turn your system off. I lost a substantial part of a dissertation once through a psu blowing (years ago now on one of the original macs). It still haunts me... :/

Sounds like it may be going bad. :(

Back up not just on an internal hd but external as well. You never know what a failed psu might do to the hard drives, or any other component for that matter.

PSU's should not be making a loud pop! sound when you switch them on, mine lasted about 3 - 4 weeks once it had started making the noise.
