Hi there,

I bought a X1800XT a while ago but in my stupidity didn't realise that I only had AGP and not an PCI-E slot.

I am looking at buying the following barebones system

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-037-OK

and to stick some of the current components of my old PC into it. I am also looking to install the X1800XT.

Question is will the PSU that comes with it be powerful enough?

In the note for it it says that it can take a 7600GT / 7900GS but is that the same power requirements as a X1800XT?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Matthew

It doesn't actually tell you the rating of the PSU used, but if it can handle a 7900GS it should be able to handle 1800XT, although it is more power consuming. Also the card is quite long so you have to make sure the case is deep enough.

I very much doubt that PSU that comes with that system will be quite good enough, remeber u need 30A on 12v rail! so a decent quality PSU @ min 400W is needed. im running a 460W Akasa and its fine

Yes you'd defo need a better PSU; 250W is just not enough. I think you'd be better off putting a rig together yourself. Look for a barebone case or a case w. decent 400W+ PSU solution and get a PCI-E mobo seperately.
