Hello all,

I've successfully constructed my first rig, though I believe I have encountered problems with my power supply. Upon running FurMark for the first time my computer crashed and informed me that a power surge was detected. Having done some research, I believe that my PSU is either a) faulty or b) not sufficient enough to power the core components when under load. Based on the specs provided by Nvidia my GPU requires, at the very least, 600W- which my current psu provides. However, I assume my motherboard consumes at least twice as much, levels which my current psu theoretically won't be able to handle. If is the case what PSU is recommended? (no higher than £100). Of course, power consumption may not be an issue and I may simply have a faulty PSU. If this is the case will 650W be enough?

Specs listed below

Computer specs:
GPU: GeForce GTX 980 TI (http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-980-ti/specifications)
CPU: I7-4790k 4 GHz Quad-Core ** No Competitors **
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-Pro gamer ATX (https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/Z97PRO/)
PSU: VS650 (http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/vs-seriestm-vs650-650-watt-power-supply)

Thanks for taking your time to read this
